An Introduction to Alex Black

I am Alexandria (Alex) Black, an Edinburgh based osteopath. I graduated with a Masters in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy (now known as the University College of Osteopathy, UCO) and am registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOSC).

I thoroughly enjoy my job and am dedicated to helping people from all walks of life. I found Osteopathy after a career in the hospitality industry, where I injured my back lifting heavy beer barrels. Osteopathy, was the one discipline that helped me get back to work, pain free. It is my passion to work with people, like you, to help you feel relief from pain and provide the correct advice and support to make you better.

My treatment is hands-on, and I use a versatile range of techniques, from soft tissue massage, joint articulation and spinal manipulation. I trained in Medical Acupuncture in 2010 and hold a foundation certificate acquired by the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS). I may also use this to compliment Osteopathic treatment.

I have a keen interest in biomechanics and rehabilitative exercise and apply these skills to treating many common postural complaints to minor sports injuries. I understand the importance of self help advice and rehabilitative exercise, these both may be offered to you to assist you on your road to recovery and prevent recurrence.
