Newborns, Babies and Toddlers
The process of birth can be a stimulating and sometimes alarming one but more often than not babies cope well with the physical forces involved in a normal labour. However, birth can sometimes be challenging or take a long time, requiring on occasion, medical interventions or caesarian section. This can result in ‘moulding’ through the head which may also have an impact on the neck and body.
The Osteopath will take a full health history for your baby including details of the pregnancy, delivery and early weeks. This is followed by examination and treatment, both of which consist of very light touch to the head and body. Treatment is baby-led, whatever your baby is comfortable with such as feeding, sleeping or being held are all fine.
Your Osteopathy may also give you ‘homework’ such as massage techniques or gentle exercises for you to do on your baby or suggestions on feeding or comforting positions etc.
If you have any further questions about Osteopathy or how your child may benefit from osteopathic treatment, feel free to get in touch.
