Alexandria (Alex) Black
Alexandria (Alex) Black is an Osteopath at AB Osteopathy, working from the New Town Edinburgh, Trinity Edinburgh, and Grangemouth clinics.
She supports patients with a wide range of complaints, from postural issues to minor sports injuries, with a particular interest in biomechanics and rehabilitation.
Her approach is hands-on and versatile, combining soft tissue massage, joint articulation, spinal manipulation, and medical acupuncture, alongside practical self-help advice to support lasting recovery.
About Alex
Osteopathy found me rather than the other way around. After a career in hospitality, a back injury from lifting left me struggling to work and searching for answers. Osteopathy was the one approach that made a real difference, and that experience has stayed with me ever since.
I've now been practising for over 16 years, and what I enjoy most about the work hasn't changed. There's real satisfaction in helping someone understand what's going on, seeing them regain confidence in their body, and getting back to the things that matter. Whether that's work, family life, or a sport they love. Many of my patients have been coming to me for years, and those long-term relationships are something I value greatly.
Having been in pain myself, I know how much it affects everyday life, and how much it means to feel better.

Approach to Care
Alex believes every appointment should start with a conversation, getting to know you as a person, including your work, family responsibilities, and daily life. This helps her understand not just your symptoms, but what truly matters to you.
She takes time to explain assessment and treatment clearly, working with you to identify your personal goals for recovery. Feeling listened to, and comfortable asking questions, is important to Alex throughout every appointment. Care doesn't stop in the treatment room, ongoing support and aftercare form an important part of your journey.
Alex's approach is patient-centred, giving you autonomy and empowerment over your own recovery, with treatment always adapted to your individual needs.

Alex qualified with a Masters in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy (now Health Sciences University, HSU) and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC registration number 7497).
